GM and GP History Ch1:

Grandma (GM) and Grandpa’s (GP) parents and siblings; How GP got his name; GP’s home growing up; GM’s great grandparents helped to settle Alpine; Great- grandfather helped to quarry granite for temple;  14 min - Parley P Pratt baptized great-grandparents into the church in England; 16 min – Father born in Salt Lake, his mother was born in Switzerland.  17 min – GM’s parents; 19 min - GM’s father worked to provide for 5 siblings after parents died; 23 min – GM moves from Magna because of chemicals from smelter; 25 min - GM’s father built house, master farmer;  lived in Sugarhouse and didn’t have running water.  27 min – GM helped to plant and tend to the farm, made it through Great Depression;  28 min – Father had about 500 chickens during the great depression, and would exchange them for food.  32 min – GM was born with a testimony and never doubted or wondered.  Her great grandparents lived next door to Joseph Smith.  The children helped to watch over the prophet when he was in Carthage jail.  34 min – some of relatives were at winter quarters.  35 min – The Winn family in the 1700s, family in the revolutionary war, involved in the first continental congress.  50 min – GP born on #2 canyon road in a basement apartment, last of 5 children.  Meeting house was 18^th ward on 2^nd Ave and A street.  53 min – City Creek canyon and ensign peak were playground.  Went to Lafayette Grade School on corner of State Street and North Temple.  57 min – GPs favorite position was 1^st base and pitcher on baseball team.  Pitched right handed.  Story of dislocated finger.
